Umrah is far more peaceful when you are well prepared. Use this list as a checklist before you travel.
Documents
- Passport valid for at least six months after your return date
- Copies of your passport and ID, kept separately and saved on your phone
- Passport photos for visa formalities
- Flight and hotel details and your tour team’s contact numbers
Whether the visa is included in the price depends on the programme; every tour page lists what is and is not included.
Ihram and worship essentials
- For men: at least two sets of ihram, and an ihram belt for money and documents
- For women: loose, breathable and comfortable modest clothing
- Unscented soap, shampoo and deodorant, as scented products are avoided in ihram
- A small prayer mat, pocket Qur’an or dua booklet, and a light backpack
Clothing and footwear
Days can be hot while air-conditioned areas are cool, so pack light clothes and a thin cardigan. Comfortable, broken-in sandals are among the most important items you will bring.
Health
- Your regular medication and copies of prescriptions
- Pain relief, stomach remedies, plasters and anti-chafing cream
- Unscented sunscreen and lip balm
- Face masks and hand sanitiser
We recommend speaking to your doctor before travelling.
Practical items
- Power bank and universal adaptor
- Small water bottle
- Lockable suitcase with a name tag
- Leave space for Zamzam water on the way back
